Duties and Responsibilities

An officer at this level will be responsible to the Assistant Director Public Affairs & Corporate Communication in performing Communication functions.  Specifically, duties and responsibilities will include:

  1. Facilitating the development, implementation monitoring and review of Public Affairs and Corporate Communication and customer care policies, standards, systems, strategies, manual, programmes and procedures for the Office;
  2. Providing support in the development, implementation and review of the departmental work plans, budgets, procurement plans;
  3. Branding of ODPP events in order to enhance visibility of the organization;
  4. Implementing ODPP service delivery charter;
  5. Updating the content for the website and digital media platforms;
  6. Managing customer relations and protocol services;
  7. Facilitating designing, printing and dissemination of documentaries, bulletins and newsletters and Information Education Communication (IEC) materials to sensitize, inform and educate stakeholders and the public on the ODPP mandate;
  8. Providing support in Partnerships, Corporate Social Responsibility programmes and Community Engagements in line with the ODPP mandate;
  9. Identifying events where the ODPP policies, programmes and projects can be propagated and promoted;
  10. Identifying and reporting on various public communication issues in ODPP and developing of appropriate interventions;
  11. Providing support in customer satisfaction surveys; and
  12. Supervising and appraising staff working under them.

Qualification Requirements

Main Requirements

  • i

    Served in the grade of Senior Public Affairs and Corporate Communication Officer for at least three (3) years OR a minimum period of Six (6) years relevant work experience, three (3) of which must have been in a Supervisory position in a comparable and relevant position in the Public or Private Sector.

    Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: communication, journalism, public relations, digital media or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; OR Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science with a Post Graduate Diploma in Communications/Public Relations/ Journalism for general degree holders;

    Required document: Bachelors Certificate

    Membership to Public Relations Society of Kenya or any other relevant professional body with good standing;

    Required document: Membership Certificate

    Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks;

    Required document: SMC Certificate
